God Honors Honor.
My friend and the wonderful Lead Pastor of NorthwayChurch.tv, Buddy Cremeans, likes to say, “GOD HONORS HONOR.”

Over the past 9 months we have been working hard to create a culture of honor.  We want to honor up, honor across, and honor down. When a person honors up, they honor all the way up to Jesus Christ.  That means when we honor what God honors, we are honoring God.  When we honor the authority infrastructure that God has placed over us, we are honoring God.  When children honor their parents, they are honoring God.  When wives honor their husbands, they are honoring God.  When church members honor their Pastor, they are honoring God.

I notice when someone has a hard time honoring what God honors, its typically because of pride.  I have also noticed that when someone has a hard time receiving honor its because of pride.  It takes humility to receive honor.  I am still trying to learn both how to give honor and how to receive honor.

Recently, my staff has been working very hard to honor their Lead Pastor, me – and it takes real humility to receive honor!  I love them for it, and I desire to honor them in ways that promote Jesus and build up His Church!  They are also working hard to honor one another.  One way we can honor one another is by calling for excellence in all that we do as a team!  Another way is to build one another up in front of others and especially behind closed doors!  Be careful of the person who trashes people in front of you, they will probably do the same to you in front of others.
