Creating a Culture of Excellence, PREVIEW

By

You must not offer an animal that is blind, crippled, or injured, or that has a wart, a skin sore, or scabs. Such animals must never be offered on the altar as special gifts to the LORD. (Lev 22:22 NLT)

I love this portion of Scripture, no, not because I am into oozing scabs and hairy warts but because of what it tells me about our God, the God of the Bible.

From these commands related to the sacrificial system there is one obvious implication: OUR GOD DOES NOT WANT OUR LEFTOVERS. GOD IS WORTHY OF OUR BEST AND HE WILL NOT ACCEPT ANYTHING LESS.

The implications of this verse dictate a pure heart, with pure motives – a desire to give God 100%. Jesus is worthy of our best. When it comes to following Jesus EXCELLENCE IS NOT OPTIONAL. EXCELLENCE IS REQUIRED.

For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in His steps. (1Pe 2:21 NLT)

Following Jesus means creating a culture of excellence. Creating a culture of excellence is all about CALLING PEOPLE TO GREATER AND GREATER LEVELS OF COMMITMENT.

Commitment comes at a cost.

HERE ARE SOME LEADERSHIP QUESTIONS I HAVE BEEN ASKING THE DC STAFF AND CHURCH:

What price are we willing to pay to reach this city for Christ?

What time price, what money price, what emotional price, what relational price, what leadership price are we willing to pay in order to lift up Jesus and see lives changed for all eternity?

Are we willing to confront people and call people on the carpet when they aren’t giving their best?

Are we willing to go through the chaos of conflict in order to create a culture of excellence?

Are we willing to have a few people get grumpy with us in order to give Jesus all that He deserves?

Are we willing to remove “that team member” or ” that staff person” who isn’t giving their best or would we rather let the mission of Jesus suffer and allow countless souls to spend eternity in hell?

In this series of posts I will be laying out 6 MUST DO’S every leader must follow in order to create a culture of excellence. Let me warn you now that “it will be painful” but “it will produce much good”!
