Angels, Pt.3
ByThen Moses and the people of Israel sang this song to the LORD: “I will sing to the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously; he has thrown both horse and rider into the sea. The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my victory. He is my God, and I will praise him; he is my father’s God, and I will exalt him! The LORD is a warrior; yes, the LORD is his name! Pharaoh’s chariots and armies, he has thrown into the sea. The very best of Pharaoh’s officers have been drowned in the Red Sea. (Exo 15:1-4 NLT)
First, I love how Moses and the people of Israel sang this song to the LORD. That is one of the main reasons we gather together every Sunday, to sing to our God – to praise Him and to lift up Jesus. I also like the fact that this is a song about warfare – so you know this was no PROM SONG FOR JESUS. This was HEAVY METAL ROCK & ROLL, THIS WAS WAR MUSIC – BUT IT WAS PRAISE MUSIC. THIS WAS WORSHIPPING JESUS FOR REAL MEN, FOR REAL WARRIORS. And I love how Moses (a real man’s man) was willing to sing and to lead his people in songs to God.
I also love the lyrical content of this song – I WILL SING TO THE LORD FOR HE HAS TRIUMPHED. HE IS MY GOD, THE LORD IS A WARRIOR. Not even the greatest military force in all the universe could defeat a poor, slave-ridden people, the Israelites, because the LORD was fighting for them. GOD WAS GOING TO BATTLE FOR THEM – HE WAS THROWING Egyptian armies into the sea, drowning them, and we are worried about offending people with the gospel these days, we are worried about offending people with the truth behind homosexuality, prescription drug abuse, adultery, fornication, cyber sex, etc…
Our God is a warrior, and so are His angels. What battle are you inviting Jesus to fight for you today? He wants to throw your addictions, struggles, shame, fear, and guilt into the Red Sea and drown them. He is your Victor and your Champion in battle! Let Him fight for you by being obedient to His Word and praising Him for Who He is and what He has done through Jesus on the cross.
